How to join a Minecraft server

Choose a community that suits the way you play

SMP rules can vary widely between communities. Think about what you want to build and when you will be able to play.

Which shared survival world suits you?

Keep your builds for the long term

Read the world reset policy and land protection rules, often called claims. Check what happens to builds when a player is inactive.

Play without being forced into combat

Read the PvP, stealing and griefing rules. SMP does not mean that combat between players is prohibited.

Find a smaller community

Check activity at different times and read the group’s introduction. A low player count at one moment does not establish the size of the community.

Start with friends

Check entry requirements for everyone: any whitelist, in-game language and rules for building together. Confirm supported editions too.

Frequently asked questions

Can I join with Java or Bedrock?

Check the editions on the listing. A Java address alone is not enough to join from Bedrock. If both editions are supported, use the address and, for Bedrock, the port for your edition.

How are servers listed and checked?

The selected sort determines the listing order. Online player counts come from status queries, without votes or paid ranking. The map shows an estimated connection IP country. Language filters use operator declarations, server settings and text, or information from the official website. The source is shown on the listing. Machine country does not determine the in-game language.
